Privacy Policy

Brock Prayer Network is a Christian prayer-sharing platform developed and operated by Brock Campus Ministry in Niagara, Ontario, Canada.

Our mission is to foster a community of care, encouragement, and prayer by connecting individuals who wish to share their burdens, support one another, and experience the encouragement of knowing that others are praying for them.

We recognize that prayer requests often contain personal, sensitive, and deeply meaningful information. We are committed to respecting the privacy and dignity of everyone who uses our platform.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices available to users of Brock Prayer Network.

1. Information We Collect

Brock Prayer Network collects only the information necessary to operate its prayer-sharing and community-support services.

Information you voluntarily provide may include:

• Name: You may choose to identify yourself by name or submit a prayer request anonymously.

• Prayer requests: The text and information you voluntarily share when submitting a prayer request.

• Contact information: An email address or phone number if you request personal follow-up from Brock Campus Ministry or subscribe to prayer notifications.

• Notification preferences: Whether you wish to receive notifications when someone prays for your request.

• Prayer interactions: Information recording when someone indicates they have prayed for a request, including optional names or encouraging messages.

Prayer requests may contain sensitive information about personal circumstances, relationships, health, religious beliefs, or other private matters. We encourage users to share only information they are comfortable disclosing to the intended audience.

Technical information

To operate the platform, we may process certain technical information, including:

• Device-specific notification tokens used to deliver push notifications.

• Anonymous or pseudonymous identifiers used to recognize prayer interactions and prevent duplicate responses.

• Basic technical information associated with requests to our servers, including information processed for security, troubleshooting, and reliable service delivery.

We do not require users to create an account to submit or respond to prayer requests.

2. Public, Anonymous, and Private Prayer Requests

Public prayer requests

Prayer requests submitted to the shared Prayer Network may be visible to anyone who can access the platform, including other users of the mobile app and website.

Publicly displayed information may include the prayer request, the name supplied by the person submitting it, the time of submission, the number of recorded prayers, and any shared words of encouragement.

Anonymous prayer requests

When you select the anonymous option, your name is not displayed alongside your public prayer request.

However, choosing anonymity does not necessarily make the content of your request unidentifiable. Please avoid including details that could reveal your identity or someone else's identity if you wish to remain anonymous.

Private prayer requests

Where the private prayer request option is available, a request may be sent directly to Brock Campus Ministry rather than displayed in the public Prayer Network.

These submissions are intended for authorized ministry personnel providing prayer and pastoral support.

Private requests may be transmitted through our email delivery provider. Although we treat such requests with care, electronic communications cannot be guaranteed to be completely free from security risks.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use information collected through Brock Prayer Network to:

1. Display prayer requests to the community according to the user's selected sharing preferences.

2. Enable community members to record that they have prayed for a request.

3. Deliver optional email, browser, or mobile push notifications when someone prays for a submitted request.

4. Facilitate personal contact or pastoral support when requested.

5. Maintain the security, reliability, and functionality of the platform.

6. Respond to privacy inquiries, reports of inappropriate content, and requests to remove information.

We do not use prayer requests for commercial advertising or sell the personal information submitted through Brock Prayer Network.

4. Notifications

Brock Prayer Network offers optional notifications to inform users when someone has prayed for their request.

If you enable notifications, we may collect and store an email address, browser push subscription, or device push notification token necessary to deliver those notifications.

Notification delivery may involve services provided by Expo, Apple, Google, or an email delivery provider.

You may disable mobile push notifications through your device's notification settings.

To withdraw notification consent or request removal of stored notification information, please contact Brock Campus Ministry using the contact information below.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information.

Information may be shared in the following limited circumstances:

With the Prayer Network community: Public prayer requests, associated display names, and submitted encouragements may be accessible to other users.

With authorized Brock Campus Ministry personnel: Contact information, private requests, and other relevant information may be accessible when necessary to provide requested support, administer the platform, or address safety concerns.

With service providers: We use third-party technology providers to operate the platform. These may include:

• Supabase: Database hosting and storage of prayer requests, interactions, notification registrations, and related information.

• Vercel: Website hosting and server-side application services.

• Expo: Mobile push notification delivery.

• Apple and Google: Operating-system notification delivery and mobile app distribution.

• Resend: Delivery of email notifications and private prayer requests.

These providers may process information as necessary to deliver their services, subject to their applicable contractual terms and privacy practices.

When legally required: We may disclose information when required by applicable law or when reasonably necessary to address an immediate threat to someone's safety.

6. Data Storage and Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure.

These measures include encrypted connections to our services, access controls, and restrictions on access to administrative information.

Access to nonpublic information is intended to be limited to authorized individuals and service providers who require it for legitimate operational or pastoral purposes.

Information may be processed or stored using service providers located outside Canada, including in the United States or other jurisdictions where those providers operate. Such information may be subject to applicable laws in those jurisdictions.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. Users should avoid submitting information they would not feel comfortable sharing through an online service.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain prayer requests, contact information, notification registrations, and related records for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the services described in this policy, administer the Prayer Network, or meet applicable legal obligations.

Users may request the removal of their submitted prayer requests or associated personal information.

To request deletion, email zack@brockcampusministry.ca with sufficient information to help us identify the relevant request.

For privacy and security, we may ask for reasonable verification before processing a deletion or access request.

Following a verified request, we will remove the applicable information from active systems unless continued retention is required or permitted by law. Some information may remain temporarily in backups or records subject to necessary retention requirements.

We will respond to privacy and deletion requests within a reasonable period and in accordance with applicable law.

8. Your Privacy Choices

Users have several choices regarding their information:

• Submit public prayer requests using a name or anonymously.

• Use a private submission option where available.

• Decide whether to provide contact information for personal follow-up.

• Choose whether to enable email or push notifications.

• Disable device notifications through Android or iOS settings.

• Request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with their submissions.

9. Respecting the Privacy of Others

Users are responsible for the information they choose to share.

We ask everyone participating in Brock Prayer Network to respect the privacy and dignity of others and avoid sharing identifying or sensitive information about another person without appropriate permission.

Brock Campus Ministry may review or remove content that violates community expectations, exposes another person's private information, or creates safety concerns.

10. Children's Privacy

Brock Prayer Network is intended primarily for university students, adults, and members of participating faith communities.

The platform is not specifically designed for children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information that should be removed, please contact us.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, technologies, or legal obligations change.

Any material changes will be reflected in an updated version of this policy, including a revised effective date. Where appropriate, we will provide additional notice to users.
